Master Mark McCumber -6th Degree Black Belt. Master McCumber was one of Master Stephen Oliver's students in Denver Co. He has been teaching over 20 years, and has been running a successful school in the Lake & McHenry Area, since 1999.
Master Mark McCumber began his martial arts training as a kid in Seattle Wa.
Then in Fremont Ca. Later resumed training in Erie Pa. when he
moved back home and finished High School.
As an teenager he trained in Kenpo Karate
and earned his black belt. Dr. M. McCumber also
earned his Black Belt in Pankration Jiu Jitsu in Illinois.
Grand Master Jhoon Rhee, Master John Chung, Steve "Nasty" Anderson, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, Dan Magnus, Jeff Smith, Dave Kovar and others would come out to Denver & train all of the Instructors & Black Belts.
In 1992, after 18 months of training, Mark McCumber tested for his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do with Master Stephen Oliver and the entire Mile High Karate Staff. Master Black Belts from around the nation (which included Charlie Lee, John Chung, Jeff Smith, 3 of Jhoon Rhee Students) Keith Hafner from Ann Arbor Michigan, Fred Degerberg from Chicago IL. and many other well-know martial arts celebrities were in attendance.
He then left in 1994 after an injury, to pursue a Personal Body Guard position.
Mr. McCumber worked for
Ann & Nancy Wilson of He was part of a Personal Security Detail for Joe Montana, of the San Francisco 49ers when they played the Broncos in Preseason. Also for Chuck Norris during his Premiere Week of The Movie "Side Kick", and Steven Seagal (in 1995 Under Siege 2 Dark Territory.)

Dr. Mark McCumber came back to Mile High Karate, to pursue his career in teaching again in 1996. The School he taught at was in Aurora Co. Where he had some of the best Black Belts an instructor could have. One of Dr. McCumber's star students was Michelle Evans. She was an Undefeated Forms & Point Fighter Champion from age 9-15.
Now an Sixth Degree Black Belt, Master McCumber is an innovator of Martial Arts teaching, Competition, and Full Contact Kickboxing. His over 35 years of experience in the Fitness and Martial Arts has allowed him to be a mentor for countless students, fighters and instructors.
Master McCumber brings his knowledge & expertise to McHenry IL. Where he is training numerous Fighters like 2 X W.A.K.O. & Illinois Girl 118 lb. Champion Katy Perez, Cristal Argomaniz, Noemi Ortiz, Liz Hernandez, D.J. Rhoton, Dail Cook, Louie Koble, and Zach Anderson. He also trains Weapons and Forms Competitor Cristian Argomaniz. Where 2 yrs ago he Won 3 World Titles at the W.A.K.O Tournament. And Recently got back into Kickboxing, and just won a 3 Round Unanimous Decision Nov. 7th 2009 and April 16th 2011 Won a Unanimous 3 Round Decision in Sugar Grove.
Dr. Thomas Giving Dr. McCumber his 6th Degree and Induction into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame April 9th 2011 in Indy IN.

In 1989 he started
working for Stephen Oliver's Mile High Karate Headquarters in Littleton Co.
as a Program Director, for 2 years. Then to Aurora Co. where he started "The Lil' Dragons Program" and started his training again. He worked there for 8
years.

working for Master Oliver for 8 years, He then moved to Grayslake IL. in
1997 to help open Chicago Karate.

Belt and Received his Doctorate From Dr. Jim Thomas
