What is Zumba?
 

ZUMBA is a Latin-dance inspired,

fitness class that incorporates Latin and International

music and dance movements that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system!

The class format combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body

in an aerobic/fitness fashion to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and

muscle-toning benefits. Zumba integrates some of the basic principles of aerobic, interval,

and resistance training to maximize caloric output, cardiovascular benefits, and total

body toning. The cardio-based dance movements are easy-to-follow steps that

include body sculpting, which targets areas such as gluteus, legs, arms, core, abdominalsand the most important muscle in the body THE HEART!

 

 

Dancers and non dancers alike immediately and easily master Zumba class

because you do not have to know how to dance to succeed at Zumba.

Zumba creates party like atmosphere that provides a non-intimidating

opportunity for non-dancers, new exercisers, or those who have previously

hesitated to participate in group classes. At the same time, dancers

and long-time exercisers thoroughly enjoy the change of

pace-exercising in a healthy, fun, party-like environment.

All students feel comfortable knowing that they can just go with the

flow and enjoy the party! Zumba's passionate and explosive Latin and

international music rhythms speak for themselves as they naturally motivate

participants during class, which makes them want to return again and again!!!!

The Music

Zumba is a mixture of   salsa, merengue, bachata,

cumbia, cha-cha, samba,   flamenco, quebradita,

calypso, reggaetton and belly dancing

History of Zumba

Zumba® Fitness was created in the mid-90’s by

Columbian native Alberto “Beto” Perez, a celebrity

fitness trainer and choreographer for International

pop superstars. Inspired by the traditional cumbia,

salsa, samba and meringue music he grew up with,

Beto paired his favorite pulsating Latin rhythms

with the red-hot international dance steps his clients

loved and Zumba® Fitness (Spanish slang for

“to move fast and have fun”) was born!

Since Beto brought Zumba® Fitness to the US in 1999,

it has become one of the fastest-growing,

dance-based fitness crazes in the country,

with people of all ages falling in love with its

infectious music, easy-to-follow dance moves,

and body-beautifying benefits.

The Zumba® Gold Fitness program is second to none. It is an innovative, fun and exciting program. It was designed for the active older adult, the true beginner, and/or people who are not used to exercising, or people who may be limited physically. The main difference between Zumba Gold and Zumba Basic is Zumba Gold is done at a lower intensity, not as fast, but it certainly is as fun. The same great Latin styles of music and dance are used.

This amazing program is very easy to follow so anyone at any age will be able to do Zumba Gold. Dances that are specifically highlighted in this program include the Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Salsa,   Belly Dance, Flamenco, and Tango. Another program of Zumba Gold includes a chair workout for people who are sedentary or wheelchair bound.
